Modernist Retro Ruby and 18ct Yellow Gold Tank Ring, Circa 1940s

A French 18ct yellow gold ring in the architectural Art Moderne style, set with 18 square cut rubies totalling approximately 0.70 carats in a ‘bridge’ design. Circa 1940.

The curve of the bridge section is interrupted by arching gold forms which continue down to form the shank of the ring.

The rubies are of synthetic origin, meaning that they possess all the attributes of a natural ruby, but were created by man. This means that there is perfect colour balance between each stone – something that is very difficult to achieve with natural stones.

• Stamped with the eagle’s head for 18 carat gold and French manufacture. No makers mark is visible.
• Currently sized to Q (8.25 US), but may be resized.
• Wear commensurate with age.
