Vintage Tiffany and Co Diamond Set Intaglio Ring of Triton

A large handsome carnelian intaglio of Triton, with a border of twisted gold wire and set in a heavy 18ct yellow gold mount. The pierced mount is decorated with diamonds set in silver forming a flower pattern.

The intaglio is 19th century and the mount is 1950s or 60s.

Triton was a herald and spirit of the sea that he controlled at the will of his father Poseidon, he can be recognized by his double fish tail.
