Vintage Retro Citrine and Gold Leaf Brooch by Sasportas

A vintage French gold leaf brooch set with citrine. The emerald-cut Madeira citrines have a very appealing colour and are beautifully combined in 18ct yellow gold with round brilliant cut diamonds in platinum to produce a very strong geometric, yet natural design. Made in France, Circa 1960's.

The brooch has the makers mark SAS for Sasportas, as well as French gold and platinum assay marks.

The French maison Sasportas was also used as a workshop by other French jewellery houses such as Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels - a very similar citrine and diamond leaf brooch by Cartier exists and hence the above listed brooch can be attributed to Cartier.
