Vintage 18ct Gold Green Enamel Rams Head Celtic Ring

A statement piece this vintage 18ct yellow gold rams head ring is intricately enamelled in a metallic forest green, the enamel hand-set around ornate Celtic motifs. Modelled on a Bighorn bread of sheep the rams head has ribbed horns, enamelled forehead detail and enamelled eyes. The style of the ring is based on the Etruscan Revival but dates from a much more recent period during the 40s and 50s when designs were informed by ancient artefacts but didn't really have the imitative rigour of the first Etruscan Revival in the mid-19th Century.

Substantial and gracefully proportioned, with fabulous enamel detailing on the head, this ring certainly isn't for the sheepish of jewellery lovers.

CONDITION – Overall very good, the enamel is in very good order with limited wear to the side of the ring. The gold work is sound throughout.
