Victorian Antique 4.80ct Diamond Horseshoe And Arrow Brooch

A late 19th century triple horseshoe and arrow diamond brooch. Three horseshoes sitting on the knife edge arrow shaft, the arrow point, fletching feathers and nock are all set with 4.80 carats of old-cut and old mine-cut diamonds, Mounted in silver-upon-gold. English, Circa 1880.

In Victorian symbolism horseshoes represent luck and protection. Arrows were associated with Cupid, the mischievous god of love. This arrow was clearly intended to inspire love and luck in the wearer.
