An important and highly collectible Patek Philippe & Cie openface pocket watch from the celebrated Chronometro Gondolo series, produced exclusively for Gondolo & Labouriau of Rio de Janeiro in the early 20th century.
The watch is housed in an 18 carat yellow gold openface case, finely engraved Fabricado expressamente para Gondolo & Labouriau Relojoeiros Rio de Janeiro. The white enamel dial features Roman numerals, an outer minute track, and a subsidiary seconds dial at six oclock, signed Patek Philippe & Cie Genéve and Chronometro Gondolo.
Powered by a high-grade manual keyless movement (no. 166879), the watch reflects Patek Philippes chronometer-level precision. The case, numbered 271570 and stamped Pat. Jan. 13, 1891, measures 51 mm in diameter and displays the classic engine-turned cartouche back.
This timepiece is offered with its original fitted Patek Philippe presentation box, silk and velvet-lined, decorated with gilt medallions and inscriptions celebrating the maisons international awards, including the Paris Grand Prix of 1889.
