A Cartier desk ornament designed as a jewelled lapis lazuli frame set with a large gold medal depicting Saint Christopher carrying the infant Christ over the river. The medal is unmarked but tested for 18 carat gold and measures 2.3 cm in diameter. The frame is of gently arched form and is set with a gold mounted ruby to each corner. The gilt-metal reverse with a hinged easel stand inscribed CARTIER and numbered 0455.
