A late 19th century sapphire and diamond crescent brooch. Seven graduating cushion-shaped sapphires are alternated with eight pairs of old-cut diamonds. Mounted in yellow gold, the ends of the crescent are embossed, the inner curve is plain. Secured with an pin and safety catch fitting, with a pendant or safety chain loop on the back. Circa 1880.
