A striking 19th century insect brooch set with a central 0.45ct blue sapphire accented with rose cut diamonds and rubies to the body, wings, eyes and antennae. Set in silver -upon-gold. Circa 1870's.

• Hallmarked with French eagle's head mark, standard for 18ct gold and owl Import mark with 75 inside.
• The antennae of this impressive Victorian insect brooch is embellished with 2 rose cut diamonds and eyes with two natural 2 rubies.
• The large 0.45 ct. centre blue sapphire rose cut stone makes up the body of this magnificent brooch with abdomen of 18 rose cut diamonds and 17 rose cut rubies.
• Wing span 42mm silver and 18 kt. yellow gold settings set with 56 rose cut diamonds.
