Antique Victorian Man in the Moon Feldspar Brooch with Diamonds and Enamel

A rare and rather unique mid 19th century brooch; featuring a centrally hand-carved feldspar depicting the man in the moon surrounded by rose cut diamonds and black enamel decoration. Mounted in 18ct yellow gold. Circa 1850

This unusual and fabulously quirky brooch can also be worn as a pendant with a small hook fitting tot the reverse.

The Man in the Moon is said to bring good fortune to the wearer and keep them safe from harm.

  • Diamonds: approx. 1.00 carat total
  • Metal: tests as 18ct gold
  • Dimensions: brooch measures 33mm diameter
  • Gross weight: 12.2 grams
  • Condition: Excellent condition commensurate with age and use. The feldspar centre showing no evidence of chipping (often the case) or cracking. Diamonds remain securely set and original to the piece. Enamel intact throughout.
