A beautiful Victorian 15 carat yellow gold sentimental brooch. It comprises a pearl double sweetheart, ruby set key and a diamond set bow. A brooch truly loaded with symbolism, this fine and impressive antique sweetheart brooch boasts two split pearl-encrusted lovers hearts entwined and forever sealed by a delicately crafted key all set in buttery 15 carat yellow gold throughout. The key is adorned with two claw set rubies, pink a common colour symbolic of love and passion, during the Victorian period and also throughout history. CONDITION - Overall good. The pearls are fairly well matched with some minor discolouration but not noticed when worn. The gold work remains intact and undented, with the teeth of the key straight. Minor wear to goldwork near the teeth end of the key. Brooch fitting remains secure. The brooch pin is bent but fits very well. All stones are original to the piece.
