Antique Hera Cameo Sardonyx Natural Pearl and Gold Brooch

A cameo brooch, depicting Hera, the ancient Greek goddess of women, marriage and childbirth, on a sardonyx hardstone cameo, with a dark brown background. Mounted in a yellow gold surround, set with six natural half pearls, spaced between sets of three white enamel lines, with a glazed locket back, which appears to contain woven hair.

With French Eagle marks for 18ct gold and a maker's mark. Circa 1890.
