This extraordinary antique Georgian Sciacca coral Figa hand 18ct gold brooch is Italian origin, circa 1800, and is skilfully and realistically hand carved from natural Sciacca origin Coral, stunning colour, the hand is jewelled with a gold ring and a gold bangle, completed at the end with a finely decorated finial with all motifs in use at the time.

The mano fico is used as an amulet for magical protection against the evil eye dating back millennia and ever since.

Mounted in solid 18ct gold, a simple pin brooch is attached at the back.

Some natural imperfections due to the coral being untreated. Fine condition in keeping with its great age.
