Captivating antique Georgian 10ct gold cameo ring made c.1820.

The ring is set with a central carnelian cameo (possibly an earlier carving) of a Roman figure, intricately hand engraved and very finely detailed.

Its quality and craftsmanship extends to the goldsmithing and ring itself where the shoulders have been beautifully hand-chased with scrolled motifs. This seemingly insignificant yet delightful detail presents the central cameo as if it was framed and draws the eyes to the centre of the ring.

The tone of gold is a lovely antique warm hue with a very slight hint of rose gold which compliments the colour of the carnelian intaglio and presents an overall very classically antique and distinguished appearance.

This piece is unmarked as is common with small gold articles of this period and as such we have tested it, indicating 10ct gold content.
