Antique 18th Century Belgium Flemish Diamond Cross Pendant
A very stylish and rare antique diamond cross necklace, the cross has been set with old table cut diamonds, one of the first type of cut used for diamonds, in a gold surround then suspended from a lacy scrolled metalwork centrepiece which is set with diamonds to an open link gold chain.
Period: ca. 1740
Country of origin: We believe this to be of Belgian origin.
Material: 18ct yellow gold
Diamonds:
Eight table cut rose cut diamonds.
Ten rose cut diamonds and senailles.
Hallmarks: No trace.
Dimensions: when slided together, both pieces have a total height of 6,50 cm (2,56 inch)and than the neck circumference of the necklace is 48,00 cm (18,90 inch). However this neck circumference can be made smaller by sliding up the top part of the pendants and also by using the closure in a ring that is attached9,00 cm (3,54 inch) from the end of the chain.
