Stunning Edwardian amethyst necklace, Circa 1900.

The necklace presents a wonderful array of substantially-sized and various-shaped amethysts set with a 9ct antique gold backing and chain.

The amethysts are matched well and tastefully selected with round, oval and pear cuts that accentuate the wearer's neck and create an elegant symmetry, terminating in a single point.

Its chain-work allows for each amethyst to move around, and its overall design creates a very fluid, natural and unrestricted appearance. The bottom portion is suspended and comes particularly to life upon wearing with the movement of the freely moving parts in full effect.

The piece is unmarked as is common with articles of this period and as such we have tested it, indicating 9ct gold.
