Vintage Silver 13 Charm Long Chain Necklace

A wonderfully individual vintage silver 13 charm long chain necklace, comprising a substantial 31-inch silver link chain hung with 13 assorted charms, collected in an eclectic mix of sentimental, sporting, travel and novelty designs. The charms are particularly characterful and include a large heart, miniature motor car, bicycle, clog, ski, aeroplane, abacus, bunch of keys, and figural charms, together with an oval engraved dutch medallion. The medal is a 19th-century Dutch silver school prize medal, awarded by the Van Kinsbergen Institute in Elburg for exceptional academic achievement and good conduct. All the are three-dimensional or articulated, giving the necklace wonderful movement and detail when worn. The silver chain itself is formed from elongated rectangular links and, at 31 inches, gives the necklace the feel of a long guard-style chain while allowing the individual charms to be spaced around its full length. The generous 130.8 g total weight gives it substantial presence while retaining the playful, collected-over-time character that makes vintage charm jewellery so appealing.
