Vintage Emerald and Diamond Three Stone Ring in 18ct Gold
Three stone rings are one of the all-time classics as a coloured stone ring goes. This one is a nice example with a good, strong colour Emerald and two, nice, bright Diamonds. This piece is one where a little more care was taken in the design and construction than many others as the Emerald setting and the shank/band are in yellow and the Diamond settings are in white.
Ring Size: UK Size N, US Size 6.75
Diamond Weight and Cut: Approximately 0.50cts totalĀ (calculated). Round Brilliant.
Emerald Weight and Cut: Approximately 0.78cts (calculated). Emerald-Cut.
The Emerald measures approximately 6.1 mm x 5.2 mm. It’s of a nice strong green reminiscent of Colombian colour but has more of the characteristics of a Russian stone under the microscope, but this is just opinion and not guaranteed to be either origin. The stone is translucent and has many inclusions as is expected with Emeralds. There is one small chip on the North East edge near the claw, but it is small.
The diamonds measure approximately 4.2 mm in diameter, they are in the VS range for clarity and the colour appears to be in the G-H range.
The setting measures approximately 14 mm x 6.5 mm at the widest points. The setting stands approximately 5 mm high off the finger. The shank/band is a relatively uniform 2 mm thick tapering towards the setting.
Marks/Metal: There is no hallmark present only an incised 18ct mark, but the metal has been tested to confirm this. The Diamond settings are very difficult to get a conclusive test, but indications are that they are Platinum.
Condition: Other than the small chip to the Emerald, everything else looks to be in good order.
Sizing: It is possible to size this, but please ask first, so we can make sure it’s possible and what cost/timescale may be involved.
