An exquisite late Victorian-era brooch, beautifully crafted in 9 carat yellow gold, featuring an opal set against a black enamel ground. The opal exhibits vibrant flashes of green, blue, and violet play-of-colour (hallmarks of high-quality precious opal) framed within a finely engraved scrolling border typical of the periods design. The fastening is a traditional pin with safety chain.
