Vintage Ruby, Diamond and Gold Flower Bangle Brooch, Circa 1940s

Vintage Ruby, Diamond and Gold Flower Bangle Brooch, Circa 1940s

A fabulous bangle attributed to Paul Flato, created in the 1940’s.

This chic piece allows the flower head motif to be detached and worn independently as a brooch.

The brooch is set with a central diamond to the flower head surrounded by 18 natural rubies.

The craftsmanship and design of this piece with its ingenious interlinking parts speaks of the unconventional thought processes that exemplify Flato’s work.

Although unmarked, we are attributing this piece to the work of Paul Flato on the basis of the curving forms of the ribbons and petals around the central floral section. The cut-through motifs delineating the central veins of the petals are typical of his work, as is the curve of the cut flower stem.
