The body of the brooch is intricately modelled with openwork wings and a highly detailed form, pavé-set with diamonds. At the centre sits a richly hued pink sapphire displaying excellent saturation and a vivid rose-pink tone. The sapphire is securely claw-set in a traditional rub-over mount, typical of antique design. The brooch is fitted with a sturdy hinged pin and C-clasp to the reverse and shows hand-pierced settings to support the stones, finished with an open gallery to enhance brilliance.
