Antique Victorian Scottish Silver and Banded Agate Padlock Bracelet, Circa 1870

Antique Victorian Scottish Silver and Banded Agate Padlock Bracelet, Circa 1870

A beautiful Victorian Scottish agate bracelet set in delicately engraved silver details. Each banded agate piece is totally unique and boasts various earthy hues from deep greens to browns, reds and creams with the banding all naturally formed, earning it the appropriate nickname ‘The Earth Rainbow’. The bracelet is comprised of faceted square-cut pieces of agate connected by double agate barrel links all set within masterly crafted silver detailing. The bracelet is held together by a pretty shield-shaped padlock set with a striped moss agate to the front and a small pain of glass to the reverse.

Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid-1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
