Antique Italian Micro Mosaic Cross Pendant come Brooch with Vatican Stamp

A mid 19th century 22ct yellow gold cross shaped pendant-come-brooch with detailed micro mosaic work depicting various religious and symbolic motifs.

The central roundel features the Agnus Dei, or Lamb of God, holding a flag, a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. The use of blue in the background signifies divinity and heaven, enhancing the spiritual significance of the piece. Each arm of the cross is decorated with different motifs. At the top, there is a Chi-Rho symbol, which is the first two letters of “Christ” in Greek. The sides of the cross features cherubs and at the bottom, there is an anchor, a symbol of hope and steadfastness in Christian iconography.

Made in the Papal workshops , marked with the Vatican stamp of the Papal tiara with the keys of St. Peter Circa 1850’s – 1860s
