Antique Edwardian 18ct Gold and Diamond Negligee Pendant Necklace Circa 1915
Antique Edwardian 18ct Gold and Diamond Negligee Pendant Necklace Circa 1915
A charming antique Edwardian 18ct gold and diamond negligee pendant, regarded as such because negligee or in French deshabille alluded to the sheer gown worn by ladies during this era. A negligee pendant usually consists of two unequal drops which give this antique pendant its distinctive appearance. This preloved antique diamond pendant is designed as a diamond set bow motif set with rose-cut diamonds set in 18ct gold with two knife-edge bars each rubbed-over set with two est. 0.2ct and 0.35ct diamonds respectively. Linked to the pendant motif is a fine 18ct gold trace chain, the whole negligee being 51cm/ 20” long. A pretty example of Edwardian jewellery that evokes the delicacy of this elegant age. This antique piece does display general wear which is consistent with a pendant of this age.
