Rare Antique 4th County of London Yeomanry Military Cap Badge Sweetheart Lapel Pin Brooch
Rare 4th County of London Yeomanry (The Sharpshooters) 1939/44 military cap badge sweetheart / lapel pin / brooch. 9 carat white gold and enamel with highlights to the crown and diamonds to the crown, 4 and rifles.
Sharpshooters served in the “Desert Rats” North Africa campaign at El Alamein and Europe, but following huge losses they were merged with the 3rd County of London Yeomanry in 1944. They re-formed post war as 3rd/4th County of London as a Territorial Unit. 27 x 22 mm, 4 g gross. Sweethearts would generally be given by the Officers to their wives upon departure to conflict. As this unit was only in existence for five years this makes this piece an extremely rare piece of regimental history.
