Faberge

The Jewellery Maker Faberge.

Gustav was born in the town of Pernu in present day Estonia, he became a master jeweller in 1842 and opened in St Petersburg, It was here in 1846 that his was Peter Carl Faberge was born.

The young man studied business in Dresden and later visited Paris where he was enthralled by the Neo Classical Art at the Louvre.

At the age of 24 he took over his father’s workshop, as his reputation grew he was commissioned by Tsar Alexander III to make the first imperial Easter egg.

Peter Car Faberge l went on to become an extraordinary goldsmith and designer known for his classical style and clever use of enamelling. His reputation and Imperial patronage secured that of the House of Faberge.
