Marcus & Co Hermann & William Marcus, formed the company in New York 1850.
Herman originally from Germany had experience at Ellemeyer court jewellers of Dresden.
By 1900 the company was producing some of the best American pieces in the Art Nouveau and Secessionist styles.
The companies style evolved throughout the early 20th C. In 1962 Marcus was merged with Black Star & Frost
