Antique Late Victorian Emerald, Ruby and Pearl Salamander Bracelet

Antique Late Victorian Emerald, Ruby and Pearl Salamander Bracelet

An extremely unique and rare antique late Victorian salamander bracelet set in 18ct yellow gold. The bracelet is designed to depict an elegant looking salamander which is composed of 25 fully articulated gold links. Typical of the Victorian period, this bracelet is heavily detailed. The back and face of the salamander have been hand engraved to depict intricate scales and facial features which reflect nicely in the light once on the wrist. Amongst the detailed features are collet set mixed cut emeralds and seed pearls which start from the head and beautifully graduate down the salamander’s back. The salamander is then accented with two vibrant ruby eyes which perfectly contrast the green emeralds. Even though the piece is more than 100 years old, it is still in remarkable condition and is a true one-of-a-kind bracelet.

The Victorians were known for their unique naturalistic pieces which heavily involved creatures such as snakes, butterflies, lizards and salamanders. The salamander is secured with a push-down tongue clasp fitting and an additional safety chain (this has been separated for photography purposes but will be soldered together before dispatch.
