Antique Victorian Yellow Gold and Silver Pique Earrings, Circa 1870
Antique Victorian Yellow Gold and Silver Pique Earrings, Circa 1870
A delightful pair of Victorian yellow gold and silver inlay pique earrings handcrafted in circa 1870. The teardrop-shaped pique drop earrings, beautifully inlaid with stylised flower motifs, geometric patterns and tendrils. These still maintain their original heads and fittings which are both decorated with inlaid gold stars. The metals used are yellow gold and silver. These Victorian earrings would have been handmade during the mid-Victorian period (1860-1870). A skilled occupation that had its origins when the Huguenots escaped from France to England in the 17th Century where their craftsmanship spread. Very pretty earrings and light to wear and the detailing is seen from all sides. They have the original hook wires.
