Vintage Alan Martin Gard Amethyst & Gold Cufflinks

A pair of Alan Martin Gard amethyst and gold cufflinks, with figured gold balls in the centre and amethyst beads either side, with bar fittings, Hallmarked for London, 18ct gold, 1969, with AMG maker’s mark. Alan Gard was born in London, in October 1935. He served an apprenticeship with the jeweller Crombies of Bond Street, for seven years. He worked with Andrew Grima and Hooper Bolton and then set up his own business. He had exhibitions at the Goldsmiths Hall and Design Centre London, as well as exhibitions in America. He won prizes in the De Beers engagement ring design contest and designed all the jewellery and medals for the films Nicholas and Alexandra and Modestie Blaise. Alan Gard continues with his original retro designs and he has created pieces for noted stars and politicians.
